Camp of the Cross is a Year-Round Camp and Retreat Center

Be yourself, feel like family, and connect with God in Christ Jesus.

I love going to Camp of the Cross every year. It is just so much fun that I can’t get enough. To me, just once a summer isn’t enough of Camp of the Cross.

What’s special about Camp of the Cross?

We've been creating spaces and experiences for people to connect with God for over 60 years, supported by a constituency of 70+ Lutheran and UCC congregations in North Dakota.

Whether it's a week of summer camp or the weekend of a retreat, at Camp of the Cross you'll feel God's presence and be energized in your faith.

Our Four Promises

Christ

We create holy space centered on Christ. Whether at Camp or off-site, we foster an environment centered on Christ.

Family

We are family. From first-time campers, to retreaters, to long-time donors—everyone is part of the CCM Family. #ccmfamily

Grace

We share a message of grace. You're safe to be yourself, experience your faith out loud, and grow as a person.

God's Call

We help people hear God's call in their lives—for "lives of faith." Bring your energized faith back into your everyday life.

Summer 2024

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.
— Psalm 139:14

Daily themes include:

Created to Be Free, Created to Be Authentic, Created to Be Brave, Created to Be Disciples, Created to Be Disruptive

We are loved and accepted by God even before we enter this world. The fact that God knows our innermost selves is mind-boggling at the very least. Even when we feel alone and unseen, God sees us and knows us, never leaving our side. Maybe even more brain-bending is that we need not do anything or prove one single thing to receive God’s free gift of grace.

Each of our themes gives us an opportunity to explore more deeply the authentic selves God has created us to be. We will learn what it means to be siblings in Christ—humans who are brave enough to encourage and stand up for each other, sharing burdens as well as joys. We grow and learn more about ourselves while listening to and sharing with each other.

God forgives our sins so that we may live free to share the love of Christ. God’s gift of grace through faith enables us to be authentic to the image God intends and be brave in all situations, even in the face of death. As the Spirit gathers us together as communities of faith, we are called to serve one another as disciples. This is no idle task, but one that seeks change and disrupts the norms of society that are in opposition to God’s love. Our identity as God’s created children provides an exciting adventure that will accompany youth not only during a week of intentional faith formation, but beyond as they journey back into their church and communities.
